Staying at a Test and Go Hotel in Thailand; What To Expect
It can be hard to keep up with everything that’s going on at the moment with Covid restrictions and what you can and cannot do, especially if you don’t watch the TV or pay any attention to things like social media, which seems to be the main source of information these days. The good thing is that, if you are staying in Thailand, some hotels offer a test and go process for those that don’t need to undergo quarantine so, you don’t necessarily have to be stuck somewhere for 2 weeks if you don’t want to be;
Things are reopening
The biggest thing to celebrate here is that things are starting to reopen and while health is still a big concern for a lot of people, so is earning a living. For a lot of people who work selling food or, in the tourist industry, times have been very hard. In fact, many of them have had to go back home to more rural areas and live with their family again with no income to speak of.
Some have had rely on outside help in order to survive, there have even been suicides on the back of people losing their jobs and having no way of paying their bills. Others have become seriously, mentally ill as a side effect so, the sooner things get back on track the better for all, surely? For you, probably the worst that’s going to happen is that you might need to stay in a Test & Go Hotel in Bangkok for a night.
Tests and checks
If you are a tourist or you work in a particular sector of work, take teachers, for example you will need to have several vaccinations and be tested regularly to make sure that you are still fit and healthy. It isn’t something you have a choice over, if you want to keep your job or your visa if you aren’t a Thai national.
What to expect
Here is what you can expect to see when looking at a ‘typical’ test and go hotel package;
You should receive a one-night stay for a special rate per person inclusive of airport pick-up and drop off delivery service-through RT-PCR test at the relevant hospital on the way to the hotel.
The sooner you book the better because, as things re-open, the availability will become less and less.
A package should include the following:
• 1 night stay in a hotel room (room only)
• Transfer from airport to hotel
• One time RT-PCR test at a hospital
• Special room rates for extension nights
- One set ATK test kit for self-testing
- 20% off in-room dining
Terms & Conditions:
- If there are more than one of you then you will most likely have to pay for the second test.
- Supplement charges per night throughout festive periods or national holidays.
